The Game

The Extinction Clock is ticking…

Protect your herd! The goal of HERD: A Dinosaur Tabletop Game is to keep your herd safe from rapacious predators during the Mesozoic Age. Distract Predators with smaller Prey - giving them something new to snack on! Improve your Herd's defense with unique adaptations and survive until the Extinction Clock has ticked down to the end, but beware: each turn grows more and more challenging!

HERD: A Dinosaur Tabletop Card Game is laid out on a table as so - with each player’s Herd, a Hunting Ground below, a Predator Deck and a Prey Deck. Each Herd also gets a number of Herd Counters - symbolizing the number of dinosaurs in the Herd. There is also the Extinction Clock - a unique gameplay tool which not only counts down each turn, but also influences how many Predators enter the Hunting Ground each turn and how many (or how few) Prey cards players redraw up to each turn!

Protect Your Herd…

Each player controls a Herd - and each Herd has a Head Count, the number of dinosaurs in that Herd. Each Herd plays differently - from the aggressive, proactive playstyle of the Triceratops to the defensive, tanklike shield of the Ankylosaurus. Each has a very different way of dealing with Predators, and they’re going to need it!

…From Fearsome Predators…

Predators will attack your Herd each turn - stalking the Hunting Ground and threatening to overwhelm your dinosaurs’ natural defenses! From nimble pack hunters to apex predators, there will always be a threat lurking in the wilderness…

…And Distract Them with Lesser Prey!

The “Selfish Herd” is a surviving Herd - surround your Herd with Prey - smaller dinosaurs which Predators will go after first. Prey increase your Herd’s defense, being sacrificed in order to save your hide!
